• Course Reflection

This course provided me with many takeaways for my career. The first takeaway is that there are many ways to integrate technology in the classroom. This can be done with lessons, assessments, and research. As technology evolves, it is crucial to have students become more comfortable with technology. The next takeaway is that technology is a great way for students to collaborate. Collaboration is a huge trait for students to have and there are so many ways to use collaboration with technology. Students can do projects and even conduct research together while using technology. The next takeaway is that technology can be a great a way to assess students. Students can be engaged with many games while also assessing their knowledge. I feel as if many people believe technology is a bad thing for education but I believe it is a great tool to incorporate for students.

There were many great assignments during this course. I esepcially enjoyed learning about assessment tools as my students loving playing new games to assess their knowledge. My favorite assignment was the podcast/ audio recording tool. I have already started using this in my classroom. Many of my students are on low reading levels and there is not enough time to read aloud to every student for every assignment. I have started uploading my reading aloud texts for students to listen to as they work on independent work. This allows me to be able to help more students as I do not have to spend as much time helping students read. This assignment truly provided me with such a useful strategy for my classroom. I also enjoyed getting to read aloud the story. My students, also think it is funny getting to hear my voice read aloud texts for them. I thought it was really special to be able to see something I learned in your class being used to help my students. This has really been a great tool in my class so this by far became my favorite lesson. I also enjoyed getting to learn about AVL. This is such an awesome tool and I cannot wait to incorporate it in my classroom.

The first way I plan to incorporate a tool that I have not done prior is blog posts. There are many times we do discussions but I feel as if my students would enjoy making blogs. It would be a fantastic way to let my students create and design their blogs however they want. It would also be a great way for them to learn how to use more technology and work on their typing skills. I will also have students reply to each other in the comments. My students love using social media and this could provide them with the feeling of a social media platform by being able to like and comment on each other’s posts. I also plan to incorporate the google sites tool. My students have chrome books and it is easier for us to stick with google platforms. I had never heard of the google sites tool before this course and I really enjoyed the layout of it. I think my students would enjoy exploring it and figuring out how it works. I would then have students collaborate on a research project together and use the google sites platform. The students could be creative and also work together on a project. This would be something different for my students than just using google slides and provide them with more opportunities and experiences.

Overall, I have really enjoyed this class. I have gained so much information on technology and tools that I never knew before. I also learned so much about tools I have already used. This tool has really benefited me as a teacher and has provided me with so many ideas for my lessons. It is so great that I have already been able to see the tools I have learned in this class be used. I have also already used the assessment tools that I created for this class with my students. This class has truly made me a better educator. I am able to engage my students with more new and fun tools to change typical lessons into more engaging and collaborative ones. There are so many ways to integrate technology in the classroom. I am so glad that I have been provided with new strategies to implement. I feel as if this course has not only benefited me but also my students. I cannot wait to see how my students now grow with their knowledge of technology.

  • Story Telling

    Story Telling

I downloaded a voice recorder app on the google play store. I used the voice recorder to record me reading the book “The Earth Book” by Todd Parr.

I tried to download the suggested programs but they would not work for my computer. I am glad I was able to find a program that worked and allowed me to easily record my story.

I could definitely see myself using this program in the future to record read-aloud for my students. My students love being read aloud to and this could allow me to upload a read aloud on schoology for my students to listen to.

Above, is the attached audio of my read aloud. The audio was super easy to download to my computer and upload to my blog. I will for use this for many different activities in the future.

  • Instructional Tools

    Instructional tools

The tool I decided to use is Nearpod. There are so many great benefits to Nearpod and so many things you can do. You can add slides, games, quizzes, readings, and draw its activities. It is a great way to engage students during instruction.

This is beneficial for others because you can easily provide quick informal assessments. The nearpod can provide data on how each student did and can easily assess students’ understanding.

I did not have many issues with this activity as I have used Nearpod before. The program is super easy to use and figure out. Nearpod also has a library full of lessons and resources to use. I think this is a great tool for any teacher to use.

  • Week 4 video

This was a very fun assignment. I first tried to film on my computer but realized that it was not ideal. I then started to film on my phone. This was much easier as I was able to move around and get different shots. I edited my movie in Imovie. This was super easy to easy and figure out. I was able to add a picture and voice record over it. The process was not confusing at all and Imovie made everything super easy to understand and use. If I was to do this again, I would get more shots and film more. I did not feel like I knew what to put in my video and would add more. I would also use the same editing system. Imovie was simple to use and figure out and I do not think I would like to figure out another editing software.

  • Evolution of Internet Process

The tool I used for this assignment is wordpress. I am still getting used to this website and wanted to continue to use it to gain more knowledge.

The previous link is to my blogpost for this assignment

The process I went through to create this project was first picking WordPress. I then created a new post and began looking more in-depth into the differences between web 1.0 and web 2.0. I realized there was much more to the evolution of the internet than I knew. I did not know how little people could do with the internet at the beginning. I also found it interesting a pizza was the first thing purchased through the internet.

  • Evolution of The Internet

Web 1.0 is the first stage of the World Wide Web. This is the first step in the evolution of the internet.

Web 2.0 is the second step in the evolution of the internet. This is the step that included websites and applications that were user generated. These websites include Wiki, Facebook, Twitter, and blogs like the one I am on right now.

How can Web 2.0 technologies be utilized for education?  Web 2.o technologies can be utilized for education in various ways. The first is through blogs. Teachers can have students use blogs to create posts and participate in discussions with students. Another way is to create a private facebook class page. This page can include posts from the teacher and students where students can ask questions and have discussions. Students can also create a project or presentation with the application Prezi. This is a more engaging technology than just an average PowerPoint and a great way for students to collaborate.

How can Web 3.0 technologies be utilized for education? The first example of a web 3.0 technology in education is a virtual 3D library. This is a great way for students to engage and use technological skills to create a 3D library. Students can also use technologies to create virtual worlds. This is a great way for students to engage and collaborate in project based learning.

  • Learning Theories Matrix

I learned a great deal of information about learning theories. Many of these learning theories I have already known about and used in my professional life. The theory I use the most is behaviorism. I believe that behavior incentives are crucial for students. Personally, my students love technology incentives and playing games on the clever app.

I used the resources provided in the assignment and the knowledge I already had about these theories.

I had a challenge creating a matrix because I have never heard of this format before. I struggled with the layout of my matrix. I also struggled with the connectivism theory as this is new to me. I think that I still do not fully understand this theory.
